A little bit of peril to keep my alive. A little bit of danger makes you want to survive. I don't like living on the edge but it's nice to see the heights from time to time. A little peril, a litte more alive. A wafer thin line to tread, a balance hard to strike. Fighting down the urge to jump with vertigo and spite. Be the bigger man they say, but what if you get hit as you walk away? Something starts to tingle at the end of the night. All i have left is the shame and the guilt and the pain and regret buried deep like you taught me to keep. Don't let it show all the punches you throw arms locked by your side, choke them down 'til they go back to sleep. How do you teach bravery? If i was pushed harder would i be a braver man. A little less decent, but sticking to the plan. Operating without fear of consequence or failure got me here. A little peril but not enough to thrive. How do you teach bravery? All the things i aim to be, Bitten tongue and fingers bleed. Someone teach me... And all i have left is everything you taught me, look at what it's got me. All i have left is everything you taught me, locked inside with no key All i have left is everything you taught me, ulcers eating my cheek. And all i have left is me. Everything you taught me look at what it's got me, all i have left. How do you teach bravery? Everything you taught me look at what its got me, all i have left. How do you teach bravery?

We are the ghosts and we are always here. Nailed to the past in the dark and in the clear. The shadows hold the weight to knock you to the dirt. The whispers don't get louder but the syllables still hurt And we will not go to that special place. Buried in the mortar of the bricks that made you And we have no faces and no names Everyone you hurt knows your secrets and truths You've never learnt a thing we taught you. You never learned a thing at all. We are the ghosts, the ghosts in the hallways We know you don't remember us but we're still here We are the ghosts, the ghost in the hallways When you try and reach for us we disappear But we never forget you and we're coming to get you No matter how far you run we know who you were. We're roaming through the rooms and corridors you left Spectres of a memory you can't and won't forget. We're everywhere you go and we will never leave We never really move just shuffling our feet And we will not go to that special place Buried in the fabric of the bricks that made you And we have no faces and no names Moans are our words, our news and tributes You've never learnt a thing we taught you You never learned a thing at all.

For all the blood and the bone that i have left in this earth Enough to make it my home for all that is worth. I've cut the soles of my feet walking barefoot on these streets So many wasted hours but looking back we had peace. For all the blood and bone, You never know what you've got until it is gone For all the blood and the bone We make these places our home wherever we go Freedom came with two wheels, living a life without fear Gossip leaves you with wide eyes, bloody knees give you tears Exploring places we know. Trying to find who you are Nostalgia makes it always summer, we never need to go far This is where we were made, we're built of these roads and fields And we'll carry them with us in how we think and how we feel No matter where you come from, no matter where you have been Some questions need answering, so tell me everything. For all the blood and the bone You never know what you've got until it is gone For all the blood and the bone We'll make these places our home wherever we go Wherever you go.

I found a photograph. He's standing in the back A figure quick to laugh to cover up the cracks A faded image holds secrets we should have known Potential never owned, all those untrodden roads Sticks and stones will break our bones but names will never hurt us It's such a lie, they cut inside and saying they don't is dangerous Sticks and stones may break our bones but names will never hurt us They have a price, they change your life, they're poison and contagious He's gone where we can't go to find and bring him home Tell him he's not alone, we lost touch long ago We sent flowers to remind us of the great naive times but Fresh faced and unmaligned, another one got left behind. I found a photograph, he's standing in the back A figure quick to laugh to cover up the cracks.

Words. Words with meaning that change from good to bad from low to high Don't, don't feel guilty for keeping certain words locked up inside. This isn't shy There's times that i can't quite find the words to clarify my thoughts I can't describe the moonlight in only binary, just ones and noughts I scarify my lazy brain, put voice to love and notes to hate But black ink just sits on a page Sing. Sing like you need it mean it. Get everything out leave no-one in any doubt so sing. Sing like you have to have to The words that you spray might save your life some day so Bellow out the misery and shine and hope that it is gonna be alright. Sing Sometimes you will find me sitting in my car mouth open wide. That's where i am most honest. No-one can stop me screaming as i drive. For every bitten tongue that stings For every disemboweled feeling For everything you keep locked in. Sing. Open your mouth and let it all out. Singing. If you believe it sing like you mean it. If you believe it sing like you need it.

about

The cores of these songs came in a 2 day period, and then took 2 months to flesh out. Started on the theme of where i grew up, but expanded into just growing up and becoming. The cover photo was taken doing my day job. Mannequins always unnerve me, and when they move it genuinely terrifies me, thanks to some childhood trauma that my dad thought was funny. The aversion doesn't diminish, but you learn to cope until i can get out of the room. It seemed right for what makes you as you grow up. As ever all is recorded by me on garageband so if the quality is bad blame apple. However if the quality is good, then it was all me, and maybe consider paying something as a reward;)

about

The Highwire Calamity Gravesend, UK

Aiming for somewhere between Arcade Fire and Murder By Death, usually missing wildly.

I had songs that weren't right for my other band (3dbsdown.bandcamp.com), so I started demoing them for myself. It has got a bit out of hand. I'd like to record more songs properly but that costs money, so all contributions gratefully accepted.
